Project Background
In December 2021, our QLDA Railway Wheelsets Shot Blasting Machine went into operation at CHN Energy Railway Cangzhou Branch. As a major maintenance base for China’s heavy-haul coal transportation lines, the workshop uses this machine to clean freight wagon wheelsets. This process removes heavy dirt and rust to prepare the metal surface for non-destructive testing (NDT) and regular overhauls.
Technical Key Points
3D Simulation Layout & Full Coverage: The position of each blast wheel is arranged via 3D blasting simulation software. By pre-calculating the throwing angle and shot trajectory, the steel shots uniformly cover the entire wheelset—including the tread, wheel web, and central axle—leaving zero dead zones.
Heavy-Duty Blast Chamber Protection: The internal lining of the blasting chamber is fully covered with interlocking high-chromium alloy wear plates. This heavy-duty shielding protects the main housing from direct high-velocity abrasive impacts, drastically extending the service life of the equipment and cutting maintenance downtime.
Automated Media Recycling & Air-Wash Separator: The system features an automatic abrasive recovery loop, including a heavy-duty screw conveyor, bucket elevator, and an advanced air-wash separator. It continuously filters out broken shots, sand, and dust, ensuring only perfectly sized, high-energy steel grit goes back to the blast wheels.
Pulse-Jet Dust Extraction System: Equipped with a high-capacity cartridge dust collector and local extraction hoods, the system maintains continuous negative pressure inside the chamber. This prevents any dust leakage into the workshop and easily meets international environmental emission rules.
In-Line Rail Transit & Pneumatic Doors: Built with a heavy-duty pass-through structure, the machine connects directly to the plant’s existing transit rails. Equipped with heavy pneumatically controlled sliding doors, the chamber seals tightly during the blast cycle to prevent any shot escape.
